Dr. Frye is a native of the metro Detroit area. She earned her bachelor's degree with Honors from the Honors College at Michigan State University and is a graduate of the prestigious MSU Medical Scholars (BS/MD) Program. She completed medical school at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine, where she was awarded the Brian Burke Award for exhibiting “Outstanding Promise in Pediatrics”.
Dr. Frye stayed true to her Spartan roots by completing her residency in pediatrics at Michigan State University & Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. As a resident, she was selected by medical students for the MSU-CHM Outstanding Resident Faculty Award in recognition of her dedication and enthusiasm for medical education. After residency, she went on to fellowship training in Non-Operative Pediatric Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago (a teaching hospital affiliated with Northwestern University). Upon completion of her training, she worked as a pediatric orthopedist & sports medicine physician in Pennsylvania for 2 years. She returned to Michigan in 2013 and has dedicated her practice to serving the children of the mid-Michigan, Flint & metro Detroit areas.
Dr. Frye completed advanced training in Ponseti casting & the management of clubfeet at the University of Iowa. She is a member of Ponseti International. She has extensive experience in concussion evaluation and treatment; she was recognized as a Credentialed ImPACT Consultant (CIC), distinguishing her as a local expert in concussion management and computerized neurocognitive (ImPACT) testing. Most recently, Dr. Frye has been proud to have completed graduate programs in Leadership and Healthcare Management at Harvard Business School and Cornell University.
Dr. Frye's interest in pediatric sports medicine and orthopedics comes from her own experience playing sports growing up. She played softball, volleyball, and basketball and was a collegiate rower. She excelled in academics and athletics, earning All-State honors as a student-athlete. She understands the demands of year-round competition due to extensive travel team participation & competing at the collegiate level. Dr. Frye is proud to bring a unique perspective to her practice in that she understands the role of health & fitness from the student-athlete perspective, the physician's perspective, and now the parent's perspective as well.
Dr. Frye has been recognized for clinical excellence by various organizations, including being named to the Mom-Approved Best Doctors in Michigan List by MetroParent Magazine 5 years in a row (2015-2019) and being nominated for the 2015 Health Professional Hero Award by the Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the teaching faculty in both the Pediatrics & Human Development and Family Medicine Departments at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine. She is also the author of numerous publications, including contributions to peer-reviewed medical journals and medical textbooks. She has most recently authored articles on the medical care of the student-athlete, performance-enhancing practices by young student-athletes, and the use of opioid medications for athletic injuries. Dr. Frye is proud to have presented her clinical research at the national and international levels.
Outside of the office, Dr. Frye is all about spending time with her family and dog. She coaches travel softball for her daughter and is always in the stands rooting for her kids whether it be basketball, volleyball, football, baseball, esports or a regional spelling bee! She is a strong advocate for promoting healthy lifestyle choices and is a breast cancer survivor. She enjoys warm weather, spending time with family, traveling and coaching.
